With the rise of social media, have we not been bombarded by fake news, acts of recklessness and cruelty? Somehow, as humans we tend to click on the link, acknowledge what has happened, shake our heads in disgust and move on. But then there are others, who would hit comment and type away whatever is on their mind. But this is not the majority of society, it is the act of a few.
The majority of us are kind, generous and courteous. Sadly, many acts of kindness do not warrant us whipping out our mobile phones to record it. Why?
“What this world needs is a new kind of army – the army of the kind.” – Cleveland Amory
That is such an apt quote. We do see stories of kindness; kindness to strangers, animal rescue. But does it outweigh the other negative stories? Why not overwhelm such negativity with kindness?
So Singapore, let’s share every little act of kindness that we encounter. Share the stories; text, photos or videos. The next time you whip out your phone, let it be to celebrate kindness. Let it start with us in Singapore.
Shout Out Singapore!
With every story shared, let it be an inspiration to make a pledge.
Can this tiny island nation create a worldwide phenomenon of paying it forward? Let us be the first, we will definitely not be the last.
Earth needs kindness in every form.
“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single minute before starting to improve the world.” – Anne Frank
